The Archangel Cathedral (1505-1508) occupies an important place in the ensemble of the Cathedral Square. It served as the burial place of Russian princes and tsars. The guidebook contains full information on the history of the cathedral, its architecture and interior decoration. Much attention is given to mural painting, including an improvised “portrait gallery” of the princes buried at the cathedral, as well as the ancestors of the Moscow grand princely family—to the princes of Vladimir and Kiev.
